The upcoming flick Dream Girl has hogged all the limelight for all the right reasons. Ayushmann Khurranna’s avatar as a fake girl named Puja and his performance have taken everyone by surprise. To add some more fun element, the makers decided to have a reprised version of the iconic Marathi song, "Dhagala Lagali Kala”. Riteish Deshmukh, Nushrat Bharucha, Ayushmann Khurrana are seen dancing their hearts out in this catchy number, but is it really apt for Ganeshotsav?
The auspicious Hindu festival Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated from September 2 to 12. The makers of Dream Girl have released the song "Dhagala Lagali" ahead of Ganeshotsav, calling it is a perfect song for this festive season. The song sang by Mika Singh and Jyotica Tangri, shows the idol of Lord Ganesha and the lead actors dancing (in rain) to this track in front of it. Riteish Deshmukh who has a cameo appearance told BT: “Anyone who has lived in Maharashtra has danced to this number. This song can even get a non-dancer to shake a leg when it’s played; that’s the power of this track. This has been one of my all-time favourite dance numbers. Ayushmann and Nushrat bring an amazing energy on the set and are fantastic dancers, and I am glad to be a part of this iconic song with them.”
"Dhagala Lagali" song has a pan-India reach. But using it as a part of the promotion for a film and releasing it during the festive may draw some sharp reaction from fans, considering the religious connotations. Talking about the film Dream Girl, it is all set to be released on September 13.
