National award-winner Ayushmann Khurrana (Best Actor - AndhaDhun) is making his first big-screen appearance post his big win in Dream Girl. We have all loved the quirky trailer of the movie about a small-town boy, who can skilfully mimic a female voice and plays female characters in mythological dramas, and who ends up enticing a gullible few with his voice. Dream Girl is directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, popular Bollywood writer who is making his directorial debut. Nushrat Bharucha of Pyaar ka Punchnama and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety fame is the female lead. The Kapil Sharma Show: Ayushmann Khurrana Reveals There Are No Kissing Scenes in Dream Girl!

Dream Girl also stars Manjot Singh, Vijay Raaz, Abhishek Banerjee, Nidhi Bisht and Annu Kapoor. The songs of the film are already ruling the charts, especially "Radhe Radhe" and "Dhagala Lagali". All the songs in the film are composed by Meet Bros, with lyrics by Kumaar. Here's our review of the soundtrack for Dream Girl:

Radhe Radhe

The album begins with the quite popular "Radhe Radhe" track. A very catchy song, Meet Bros uses folk elements to give "Radhe "Radhe" an addictive feel that works in favour of the track. Amit Gupta has done complete justice to the singing aspect of the song as well.

Dil Ka Telephone

"Dil Ka Telephone" is a funky track that revolves around the protagonist's double life as a seductive honeypot over the phone. While the composition is quite okay, it is the lyrics that own the song. Also, Jonita Gandhi has done a good job with the vocals, joined by a dependable Nakash Aziz.

Dhagala Lagali

The magic of why this track is bound to rule the charts, which it is doing presently, is because of our love for the original Dada Kondke track. The new version has recreated portions from Meet Bros, that don't add much too the swag of the original, but don't do much harm, with Mika Singh and Jyotica Tangri making merry with the beats. Still, the song would make you long to hear the original. Dream Girl Song Dhagala Lagali: Riteish Deshmukh, Nushrat Bharucha, Ayushmann Khurrana Dance Their Hearts Out in This Catchy Track, But is It Apt for Ganeshotsav? Ik Mulaqaat

Why does Dream Girl's solo romantic melody, "Ilk Mulaqaat", sound like a spurious version of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan's "Mere Rashke Qamar"? Even Altamash Faridi sounds way too much similar to how Khan sounds in the other song. Is it just an unfortunate semblance, a deliberate nod to the original or plain inspiration? Guess Meets Bros can only answer that. Palak Muchhal handles the female portions.

Gat Gat

No matter which location of the country your movie is set, there has to be one Punjabi song in the film, if it is a Bollywood movie. For Dream Girl, that 'Fun'jabi track is "Gat Gat", which like most of the Bollywood Punjabi tracks, is about the nasha and the bottle. While the familiarity is often irksome, "Gat Gat" is still one of the most catchy tracks of the album, sung by Jass Zaildar and Khushboo Grewal.

Final Thoughts

Is it any more surprising that the most fun track in the album of Dream Girl is a recreated version of a popular song? Meet Bros serve some very catchy songs. But save for a couple of numbers, the rest of the album breed too much familiarity to create an everlasting impression.
