Dhadak: Zingaat Remake To Be An 'Item Song' in Ishaan Khatter-Jahnvi Kapoor's Debut? Okay, Now We Are Scared!
Well, let's hope the flak Jacqueline Fernandez's take on Ek Do Teen got won't put more pressure on Farah Khan, Karan Johar and co.
Dhadak is one of the most exciting movies to watch out for in 2018 when it comes to Bollywood. It marks the debut of late Sridevi's elder daughter Janhvi Kapoor, while also being Shahid Kapoor's brother Ishaan Khatter's second movie (after April's Beyond the Clouds). Dhadak is co-produced by Karan Johar and is directed by Badrinath Ki Dulhania fame Shashank Khaitan.
If you are not aware of this, Dhadak is the official remake of the 2016 acclaimed Marathi blockbuster Sairat. The Nagraj Manjule movie is considered one of the biggest hits in Marathi cinema. One of the songs in the movie, Zingaat, has become so iconic that it has become a must at every party song-list. Along with the movie's official remake rights, Karan Johar has also retained the song, which will have a new version for Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter's movie.
The song will be choreographed by Farah Khan, who returns to directing songs after the Gerua song in 2015's Dilwale. As per a report in Mid-Day, recently Farah Khan was at the finale of a VH1 show where she spoke about choreographing the song. She revealed that Karan Johar wanted it to be 'iten song of Dhadak'. Okay, now that's scary! Thankfully, she also revealed that Khaitan had a different idea in mind - he wanted it to be natural, just like in the movie. Farah said, "Karan said he wanted it to be big and commercial, it has to be the 'item song' of the movie. On the other hand, the director wanted it to be natural and earthy." So finally she revealed that she made it as "a mix of commercial and candid."
Farah Khan also revealed that she was hesitant to take on the remake version, thanks to the massive popularity of the original song. She had said, "Karan said that his director Shashank [Khaitan] was scared to call me, and that he really wants me to do a song for the movie. The minute he said that the song in question is Zingaat, I told him that I won't do it because it's a cult song."
Well, let's hope the flak Jacqueline Fernandez's take on Ek Do Teen got won't put more pressure on Farah Khan, Karan Johar and co.
