Dhadak vs Sairat: 7 Differences That Make Ishaan-Janhvi’s Movie Stand Apart From the Original

Dhadak or Sairat?

Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter in Dhadak; Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar in Sairat. (Movie Stills)

Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter are finally a part of the Bollywood world. The makers dropped the Dhadak trailer and it has divided Twitter into two halves. While some of them are loving the fresh adaptation of Marathi blockbuster film Sairat, others are cringing over the same fact. Anyway, the newbies have prepped up in full swing to give a new twist to this Shashank Khaitan film with same plotline, different treatment. Now, how is this Dhadak different from Sairat? Or how is Dhadak just a modified version of Sairat? Here are those 7 obvious changes made that we can clearly see in the trailer.

The iconic well scene:

If you have watched the original flick, you know how much importance the ‘Parshya jumping in the well for Archi’ scene held in the film. The stellar actors Akash Thosar and Rinku Rajguru made the normal jumping act all the way romantic just with the expressions. This scene has been enacted by the newbies, just that there is this pond instead of well. Similar yet different, right?

From Letters to Kaise batau…

In Sairat, the guy confesses his feelings to his love through a handful of handwritten notes. These letters are passed on by a small kid in return of chocolates and ice creams. In Dhadak, the guy takes the matter in his own hands and tries to woo the girl himself by singing ‘Kaise Batau Kyu Tujhko Chahe’ and then also literally translating it in English language.

Dance over Kho-Kho

Do you remember that much-loved scene where Archi finally confronts Parshya? It is just when Archi catches him staring at her while she is playing kho-kho with her classmates. Here, the scene has been enacted in a similar fashion but it is Janhvi’s dance that makes Ishaan go gaga over her.

Lush green fields replaced by scenic forts

The protagonists in Sairat run around romantically through the lush green fields and natural environment during their budding relationship phase. In Dhadak, we can see the two youngsters in love playing around across the scenic forts in Udaipur.

Kolkata diaries

The original flick has the stars eloping to an unknown place which turns out to be Hyderabad. Here the couple on the run ends up reaching in Kolkata. The place change won’t make much difference, I feel.

Ishaan is no Parshya!

Parshya’s financial as well as the cultural background in the film is visible through his shy gestures and simple clothes. On the other hand, Ishaan is much more confident and colourful in the trailer.

Zing zing zing zing zing zing Zingaat…

The speciality of this Ajay-Atul made masterpiece is the spontaneity. The whole crowd just forgets the world and dances on this non-choreographed song. Of course, this added more charm to Parshya and Archi’s natural chemistry. Zingaat’s Hindi version is a choreographed one.

Here are the Trailers of Dhadak

And Sairat...

Since it is an adaptation of the cult film, comparisons will be made. But not all comparisons are bad, right? We hope that the new stars woo the audience with their love saga as much as Parshya and Archi did. What are your thoughts?
