Was the Hindi version of Zingaat really as bad as the Twitterati claims? Yes and no. Let's talk about the 'yes' part first. We all know how dearly Maharashtrian viewers and anyone who has seen and loved Sairat, hold the original movie close to their hearts. These fans were totally against the idea that Karan Johar was remaking the movie for the Hindi audiences and it would be shorn of some of the realistic touches that Sairat possessed. The trailer was already hated by the lovers of original movie.
As for the song, it doesn't possess less of the charm of the original and it also feels weird that Rajasthani folks are dancing to a Marathi-flavoured song, but national integrity yay! The steps are choreographed and maybe it's because we have heard the original song so much, the Hindi lyrics of Zingaat (Amitabh Bhattacharya) feel awkward to hear.
That said, the composers Ajay-Atul hasn't changed a single beat to the tune, and we don't really blame the makers for trying to make the Hindi Zingaat choreographed. Otherwise, it would have nothing to stand apart from the original song. Above all, Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor's chemistry is breezy.
Here's the song if you have missed it!
But many of the Twitterati disagree, and here are some of the most hilarious reactions to the recreated Zingaat song.
One Modiji meme was expected!

If the trailer and the songs are getting so much hatred, I do wonder how the movie will fare when Dhadak releases on July 13.
