As movie-goers, we are not new to the concepts of the film adaptations or remakes. The exchange of stories have been happening from one language to another, since many years now. One such Bollywood movie that will hit the screens is Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter starrrer 'Dhadak'. While it was reported all this while that it is the 'remake' of Marathi blockbuster film 'Sairat', Ishaan clarifies that it is not. The Beyond the Clouds actor called it an 'adaptation' of the hit flick and thus comparing both the movies is unfair, he thinks.
Speaking to DNA, the Shahid Kapoor's younger brother said, "Dhadak is an adaptation, rather than a remake." He also added, "I loved Sairat and was affected by it. I understand the responsibility of all the hopes that come with it. But I prefer not to think about these things when I’m working in a creative environment because it may influence my performance. Since we are adapting it, there’s scope to be different. It’s also been under the public eye, so it had a different journey from Sairat."
Well, we understand the concern of the young star, you see. The lead stars of the original flick, Akash Thosar and Rinku Rajguru won critical appreciation all over the country for their flawless performances as debutantes. The execution of the plot by Nagraj Manjule also received critical applause. This naturally sets some expectations on the Bollywood newbies and director Shashank Khaitan. However, now that Ishaan has clarified the difference, the fans might not want to compare both the films and enjoy both of them as they are. What do you think?
