Deepika Padukone’s Chhapaak is right now in screens. Meghna Gulzar directed flick received a positive review and has won many hearts. The makers based the film on the real-life incident of acid attack survivor, Laxmi Agarwal. Through, the trailer, we can see them making a strong point about the sale of acid. The dialogue, "acid bikta hi nahi toh phikta hi nahi” hits hard. How many of them knew that there are strict rules imposed by the Supreme Court regarding the sale of concentrated acid? Deepika and her team did a social experiment on the same and the amount of negligence towards these rules is appalling. Read Chhapaak Movie Review Here.

In this social experiment, the team planted some of the actors to buy the acid from random shops. This was to check whether the shopkeepers abide by the law are even are aware of the same before selling the concentrated acid to any person.

It was found that these actors shockingly were able to buy 24 bottles of strong, concentrated acid. This was simply based on convincing power with no required ID proof shown to any of them. It is almost a scary visual to witness how easily the shopkeepers give away such a dangerous solution without any prior paperwork or checking.

The social experiment also shows us how there is no control whatsoever on these shopkeepers as well, to check their illegal act. As much as the acid attackers are to be blamed, these sellers and the negligence towards the sale of restricted acid is also to be blamed in any acid attack incident.

By the end of the video, the makers remind everyone of the basic, super important rules of the sale of the acid. They include: Buyers need to be 18 years or above, photo ID proof is required, address proof needs to be provided, seller must have a license to sell, seller must report the police after the sale. The #wontbuywontsell attitude is the only way to put an end to this horrendous crime from the grass-root level itself.
