Are we finally casting real talent in movies? Because talented actor Vikrant Massey has just been roped in to play a role alongside Deepika Padukone in her next film, Chhapaak. The announcement was made by Vikrant on his Twitter handle, which of course delighted his fans. Who would not want to see him in more movies after a terrific nuanced performance he delivered in Konkona Sen Sharma's A Death in the Gunj. Deepika is also quite happy to have him on board. She welcomed Vikrant with warm words on Twitter. Yea, we know we are a little extra excited just by this Twitter chat. Imagine what would we be like once the movie goes on floors and pics and new information starts surfacing. Cue heart emoji.
Deepika took to her Twitter handle and retweeted Vikrant's tweet, saying, "Welcome to the team @masseysahib !!!Thrilled to have you on board!!!"

Vikrant thanked Deepika on the tweet and asked to give regards to Ranveer. Vikrant and Ranveer had worked together in Zoya Akhtar's Dil Dhadakne Do and Vikramaditya Motwane's Lootera, hence the request to deliver the message. From Refusing to Work with Vicky in Padmaavat to Giving Her Nod To Vikrant in Chhapaak, Deepika Lets Go of Her A-lister Obsession.
Thank you so much 🙏🏽
Really looking forward to seeing you soon. Love and regards to Ranveer. 🙏🏽❤️

Talking about Chhapaak, the title might be quirky but the movie has a very serious subject matter. Deepika will be seen playing the role of an acid attack victim in the movie. Her character is based on real-life survivor Laxmi Aggarwal.
Talking about Vikrant's casting, in her conversation with Mumbai Mirror, Meghna said, "[He] is somebody I’ve wanted to work with since Raazi, after seeing him in A Death in the Gunj. In the film, he plays a North Indian boy who used to be a professional before he decided to become an actor, then, started a campaign against acid violence which is how he came to meet Laxmi in real life. I speak for both Deepika and myself when I say that we are both really excited to have Vikrant play this part.”
Chhapaak is expected to go on floors early next year. It will be shot in Mumbai and Delhi. Also note that the shooting of xXx: Return of Xander Cage sequel starts in January. There is no concrete word about if Deepika will be a part of this one. If she is, the schedule might clash with Chhapaak.
