Deepika Padukone is changing the world as we know it. She is one of the rare actresses who opened up about her struggle with depression and even set up a foundation to spread awareness about mental health. She is also fighting gender pay parity in Bollywood, ICYMI. The Padmaavat actress was speaking at a panel earlier, yesterday, where she was asked about the gap between what men and women earn. Deepika said that she is trying to close the gap in her own. She revealed that she turned down a movie because makers were not ready to pay her what she was charging. Deepika explained, " I know my track record and what I'm worth. I know that his films haven't been doing well as my films have been doing. It made absolutely no sense. Deepika has starred in one of the biggest hits of 2018, Padmaavat. The movie has managed to do box office business of more than Rs 300 crore. She also starred in a major role in a Hollywood action movie, xXx: Return of Xander cage in 2017, thus increasing her audience. It only makes sense that Deepika turned down the offer if she felt she was not being paid her worth.
"I don't think I'll be able to live with the thought knowing that I have been a part of a film, had the same creative contribution or bringing the same value to a film but being underpaid," she further added.

Earlier, reports had surfaced that Deepika was paid more than Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor for the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film, Padmaavat. It was also reported that Deepika was paid more than megastar Amitabh Bachchan for the film Piku.
In future, Deepika will be seen playing the role of an acid attack victim in Meghna Gulzar's directorial, Chappaak. She is also producing the movie along with starring in it. Apart from this, she has also started working on a female superhero project but says it is too early to talk about it. Let us not forget that xXx sequel will be going on floors this year and she is likely to reprise her role.
