Deepika Padukone to Step Into Sridevi’s Shoes for a South Remake?

Apart from this film, the Cocktail actress is also said to be featuring in a Vishal Bhardwaj helmed mafia drama.

Deepika Padukone is undoubtedly one of the most sought after actresses in Bollywood town. Her last flick, which was a period drama, Padmaavat, took the nation by storm. After fighting a lot of roadblocks during the release, DP managed to steal the hearts with her graceful Rani Padmini avatar. Since then, everybody is excited to see what she has in store next. A report in DNA says, that the dimpled star might be next seen in a remake of a superhit South film that starred Sridevi. The film was a blockbuster four decades ago and Ms Padukone stepping into late legendary actress' shoes will only be one of the best tributes to the Mr India actress.

A source told the publication, "The original Sridevi film was made by a producer from the South and helmed by a Bollywood director. However, talks are on to procure the rights and remake it with Deepika. Nobody is willing to comment on the subject because talks have just been mooted and there are a lot of modalities involved. However, it is true that Deepika is in the know."

Apart from this film, the Cocktail actress is also said to be featuring in a Vishal Bhardwaj helmed mafia drama. The film also stars Irrfan Khan. However, as the actor is away for the treatment on his cancer, the film is on hold. The report further assures that the the Om Shanti Om girl is actively looking for a right script that will manage the hearts just like her previous magnum opus did!
