Earlier in interview, Deepika told, "It's a film that, Vishal sir had given me the book almost two years ago and he wanted me to read that chapter. I read the whole book and of course, I read that chapter. It stayed with me. I went back to him saying that I was excited to do this film. At that point, he kind of moved on and was doing something else. It changed hands a couple of times, somebody else was meant to direct it and then, I think destiny just had a role to play in it and he's come back.”
