Deepika Padukone was last seen giving a stellar performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat. The movie went on to become one of the biggest hits of all time. She was to star opposite Irrfan Khan in a Vishal Bhardwaj film but owing to Irrfan's health, the project was shelved. The actress finally, after months of waiting, signed a Meghna Gulzar movie based on the life of an acid attack victim. She loved the script so much that she agreed to produce it as well. The movie was titled Chhapaak, after Gulzar's (Meghna's father) suggestion. Today, the actress updated us with another development in the project by welcoming co-producers of the film.

Deepika, earlier in the day, tweeted that Chhapaak is a story of trauma and triumph. She added, "Elated to collaborate with Fox Star Studios"

A few days back, it was announced that Vikrant Massey will play the male lead opposite Deepika. And we just cannot be happier for the A Death in the Gunj actor. He acting abilities definitely deserve more attention from Bollywood. Chhapaak goes on floors in March 2019.

Let us not forget that we are yet to get an update on whether Deepika will be a part of xXx: Return of Xander Cage sequel or not. The movie will start shooting in January 2019. While director DJ Caruso has said that he wants Deepika on board, he has also revealed that they are having a little trouble working out the dates.
