De De Pyaar De Box Office Collection Day 17: Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh Starrer Is Inching Closer to the Rs 100 Crore Mark, Rakes in Rs 93.08 Crore
De De Pyaar De has yet another solid weekend at the box office.
Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh and Tabu's film De De Pyaar De is still minting big money at the ticket windows. The romantic comedy, which released on May 17, fared well over the third weekend and is now heading towards the coveted Rs 100 crore club. Now that's mighty impressive because most trade pundits expected the film to end its theatrical run around Rs 85 to 90 crore which clearly hasn't happened. Helmed by first time director Akiv Ali, De De Pyaar De has surprisingly held up well on weekdays and has been going rocky steady at the domestic box office since week 1. Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to the microblogging site Twitter a while back and announced the updated figures saying, "#DeDePyaarDe is eyeing ₹100 cr, but it’s a wait-and-watch situation since #Bharat arrives on Wed... Has good chances of retaining screens [metros] since AA Films is distributing both, #Bharat and #DDPD... [Week 3] Fri 1.96 cr, Sat 2.82 cr, Sun 3.81 cr. Total: ₹ 93.08 cr."
He also tweeted, "#DeDePyaarDe biz at a glance...Week 1: ₹ 61.05 cr, Week 2: ₹ 23.44 cr, Weekend 3: ₹ 8.59 cr. Total: ₹ 93.08 cr. India biz. #DDPD." While Ajay starrer is likely to perform well even in the coming days, last week Godzilla: King of the Monsters arrived in theatres but failed to get cash registers ringing. In its extended four-day weekend, the Hollywood biggie only managed to mint around Rs 15 crore according to Boxofficeindia.com. With Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer Bharat hitting the screens on June 5, it's obvious that Godzilla 2 will have a tough time staying afloat at the Indian box office this week. In fact, the film could go out of most cinema halls after the first week itself.
