Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Rakul Preet Singh starrer De De Pyaar De released on Friday, May 17, and got off to an average start as it witnessed around 15% occupancy during the morning shows. However, the romantic comedy did well in the evening and night shows and ended up with a pretty good figure on day 1. Though the film garnered mixed reviews from the critics, so far it seems De De Pyaar De has managed to perform decently courtesy its funny yet wacky storyline penned by Luv Ranjan. De De Pyaar De Box Office Collection: Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Rakul Preet Singh Starrer Off to an Average Start, Witnesses 15% Occupancy
Announcing the first-day collection, film trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to the microblogging site Twitter a while back and wrote, "#DeDePyaarDe picked up towards evening after a dull start... Occupancy was higher in evening/night shows... Strong reports should ensure a turnaround on Day 2 and 3... Fri ₹ 10.41 cr [incl Thu previews]. India biz. #DDPD."
Further, Boxofficeindia.com noted, "The opening is 50% of Total Dhamaal released in March with far lower collections across the board. The film should show good growth tomorrow in the big multiplexes but it's going to be about the Monday as the weekend business is going to be average at best unless Saturday doubles up or something close to that." Helmed by first time director Akiv Ali, De De Pyaar De also features Jimmy Shergill, Alok Nath, Javed Jaffrey and Sunny Singh in a special appearance. The film revolves around a 50-year-old man who falls in love with a 26-year-old girl but their romance takes a turn when the former's family comes into the picture and disapproves his relationship.
