Neil Nitin Mukesh was once seen as Bollywood's next big thing, when he made his debut with Sriram Raghavan's excellent avant-garde thriller, Johnny Gaddaar. That was in 2007. Now more than a decade later, Neil Nitin Mukesh has been relegated to supporting roles in films like Prem Ratan Dhan Payo or the main antagonist in South films like Kaththi and the upcoming Saaho. You can blame the reversal in fortunes to some really bad script selection from the actor. Recently, he was seen as the lead in Ishqeria, a movie that was long in the making. Now he is all set to play the lead again in Dassehra, a movie that has him in the lead role again. Ishqeria Movie Review: Neil Nitin Mukesh-Richa Chadha's Love Story is an Incoherent Mess.

Now just any lead role, Neil Nitin Mukesh will be seen in an action avatar, someone who seems to have binged on Rohit Shetty movies, especially the Singham series, before he wore the uniform. Dassehra looks to be a mystery thriller, but the unbelievable action sequences take away the attention from the suspense factor. There is this OTT scene where NNM's character kicks an upturned car towards a bunch of goons that sends them flying away! Yes, it's that kind of film. Another action scene involving a stairway looks to be lifted from Captain America: Civil War. Also, the look of the film doesn't feel like 2018 in any manner.

Tina Desai, when she is not appearing in acclaimed Netflix shows like Sense8, springs here as a female cop, whose spotlight gets extinct when the hero arrives. Govind Namdeo plays the antagonist.

Directed by Manish Vatsalya, Dassehra is all set to release on October 26.
