Popular Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi finds himself in the wrong side of the law, after the Patiala High Court found him and his brother Shamsher Singh guilty in a 2003 human trafficking case. As per reports, both the brothers used to send people abroad disguised as members of their international tours, while collecting a hefty fee from them. The court convicted him to 2 years imprisonment in jail. However, Daler Mehndi got bail soon after within minutes, according to a report in ANI.

Crime: The 1992 Arms possession case
Of course, the most popular celeb who served the maximum and the most publicised sentence was Sanjay Dutt. Accused of possessing illegal arms during the 1992 riots, he first spent 16 months in jail between 1994-96 under the TADA act, and later served 5 years in Yerwada jail to complete his sentence. He was released early in 2016, on account of good behaviour.
Salman Khan
Crime: 2002 hit-and-run case
Salman Khan has two infamous run-ins with the law, the other being the blackbuck poaching case. Mumbai sessions court has found him guilty of culpable homicide in the case in 2015 and gave him a five year sentence. However the actor got bail immediately and later the High Court acquitted him of all charges.
Shiney Ahuja
Crime: Alleged Rape
The Bhool Bhulaiya star had been accused of allegedly raping his domestic help. Though the main withdrew her charges later, the court still found him guilty of the crime under circumstantial evidence and sentenced him to seven years RI in 2011. However the actor appealed in High Court who later dismissed the charges and acquitted him on bail.
Monica Bedi
Crime: Forgery of documents
Though she was caught with her then boyfriend gangster Abu Salem in Portugal, the court actually found her guilty of making fake documents and entering Portugal, for which she had to spend two and a half years in jail. Now she is a free bird and was seen in a season of Bigg Boss.
