Dada Satram Rohra, ‘Jai Santoshi Maa’ Producer, Passes Away at 85
Acclaimed singer and film producer Satram Rohra, best known for producing the hit devotional Bollywood movie 'Jai Santoshi Maa,' has passed away at the age of 85.
Veteran singer-producer Dada Satram Rohra passed away on July 18, 2024, at the age of 85. Rohra was known for bankrolling the blockbuster Bollywood film Jai Santoshi Maa (1975). Radio Sindhi shared the sad news of his demise on its social media handle. They wrote, "We are deeply saddened to share that the Famous Singer & Film Producer Dada Satram Rohra passed away on 18th July, 2024. May almighty rest his noble soul in peace and give strength to his family in this difficult time." The note added, "Dada Satram Rohra gave so many Superhit songs along with famous Singers like Dada Ram Panjwani, Bhagwanti Navani, Kamla Keswani & many more. He Produced the blockbuster Sindhi Movie Hal Ta Bhaji Haloon & Hindi Movie Jai Santoshi Maa. He is the only one who could convince Legendary Singer Lata Mangeshkar to sing a Sindhi Song. Dada Satram Rohra’s demise is a great loss for the Sindhi Community & the void can not be filled by anyone." The late producer's funeral was held on July 18 at the Sonapur Hindu Smashan Bhumi, Kurla West.

About ‘Jai Santoshi Maa’
Speaking about Jai Santoshi Maa, the movie was a devotional film written by R Priyadarshi and directed by Vijay Sharma. The movie starred Bharat Bhushan, Kanal Kaushal, Ashish Kumar, Rajnibala, Anita Guha, Bela Bose and others in key roles. Usha Mangeshkar sang the devotional songs in the movie along with Mahendra Kapoor. Satram Rohra made his debut as a producer with Shera Daku (1966), followed by Rocky Mera Naam (1973).
