So as expected, Rajkumar Hirani's magic continues to hold at the box office, even if there is no Aamir Khan in the cast. His latest film, Sanju, has now become the proud entry of the esteemed Rs 300 crore club, the second film to do so in 2018 after Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat. This also becomes Hirani's second film to enter the Rs 300 crore club after PK. With this development, the Rs 300 crore club has once again proven that it is not just exclusive to Bollywood's Aamir Khan and Salman Khan.

After Padmaavat, starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor, collected Rs 302 crore, now Ranbir Kapoor is a proud entrant of the club as well. He has got this distinction that even Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan - considered three of the biggest superstars in the industry - haven't managed to do. And to think, Salman Khan's Eid release of the year, Race 3, hasn't managed to cross the Rs 200 crore mark.

Even overseas, Sanju is doing extremely well, as the movie has collected more than Rs 500 crore at the box office. The three main factors that have worked in favour of the film are Rajkumar Hirani's smart sense in understanding what works with the audience, Ranbir Kapoor's performance, and the intrigue about Sanjay Dutt's life, on which the biopic is based.
