Chunkey Pandey has become the talk of the town. Of course, one reason is his appearance in the blockbuster film, Saaho, in a negative role. But the actor is also making headlines for he is going all out defending Sajid Khan, the director whose name was disgraced during the #MeToo wave in Bollywood, last year. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Chunkey said, "Sajid is loud and flamboyant, someone who can say anything and get away with it. But he doesn't mean half the things he says. People can misunderstand him easily. That is what has led to all this and caused trouble for him," After Vidya Balan and Bipasha Basu Criticise Sajid Khan's 'Attitude' Towards Women, Tamannaah Comes Out in Support of Him.
"I am no one to judge," he continued, "These things came to light so he paid a price for being a loudmouth and somewhere he will have to clarify."
Just a few days back, Chunkey had expressed similar sentiments in an interview with Pinkvilla, which generated in some backlash on the internet. He had said, "If you ask me, Sajid is like a little brother to me. I think he should have gotten a chance to clarify himself but I am sure he will get a chance."
Just to jog up your memory, Rachel White had narrated the ordeal she went through with Sajid while auditioning. In October 2018, in a series of tweets, she said that Sajid asked him to strip for him. He also asked her to 'seduce him in 5 minutes' if she wanted the role.
These allegations on Sajid came after actress Saloni Chopra had already accused him of inappropriate behaviour on sets when she worked as an assistant director for him.
As a result of these accusations, Sajid Khan was let go of from his directorial duties from the movie, Housefull 4, midway. Sajid was replaced by Farhad Samji. The comedy movie also stars Chunkey Pandey in a key role.
