"Chhichhore is about friendships that are borne in measly hostels. It is also about celebrating the fact that there is life beyond books and marks. The protagonists are brought together years later by a terrible tragedy that has affected Anni and Maya, played by Sushant Singh Rajput and Shraddha Kapoor. The first half of Chhichhore is quite fun, especially all the college portions. The actors have pitched in their best, especially Sushant Singh Rajput, Navin Polishetty and Varun Sharma. Sharma, especially, gives Chhichhore some of the funniest scenes in the film. The present-day portions are quite okay in comparison but gel well with the flashback scenes. The second half is threatening to become in the same mould as Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, but knowing Tiwari, expecting him to give a better tadka to the saga."
