Chhapaak is Deepika Padukone's first foray into production and that unfortunately couldn't be a money-spinner. Despite being a story that everyone should watch, it has found little love from the audience. The latter seem more happy to watch nationalist Tanhaji The Unsung Warrior which has been cruising ahead with fast speed. Chhapaak in its seven days at the box office has earned Rs 28.38 crore and is a major disappointment. Ajay Devgn’s Tanhaji vs Deepika Padukone’s Chhapaak: Has The Clash Become a Congress vs BJP ‘Tax-Free’ Game?
The film says the story of acid attack survivor Laxmi Aggarwal who decides to be strong and positive. It's an inspriring tale but it seems audience was not in the mood to be inspired. While word of mouth of the film has been generous, the less number of screens and a clash with a biggie affected it dearly. A small film with just 1700 screens will find it difficult to tackle a film with 3300 screens.

Those who are of the belief that Deepika Padukone doesn't have the pull required to get big box office scores should go back to 2013 when she alone delivered four Rs 100 crore films in one year. Just FYI!
