This week, there are three major Bollywood releases that released in the theatres. There is Hate Story IV, that has Urvashi Rautela, Karan Wahi, Vivan Bhatena and Ihana Dhillon in the lead. Like the previous movies in the franchise, the fourth movie also relies on the curves of the heroines to draw in the audiences. The previous movies in the franchise have been profitable ventures so the trade experts are also looking at Hate Story IV to repeat the feat. Then there is Dil Juunglee, starring Taapsee Pannu and Saqib Saleem, which is a romcom, often considered a safe bet at the box office. Finally, there is the experimental 3 Storeys, that is an anthology of three different tracks.
However, none of these movies have managed to make much of an impact on the box office on the opening day. As per a report in BollywoodLife, Hate Story IV received slightly better opening with the erotic thriller registering 15% occupancy in the morning shows. This is quite low compared to the how the third movie, starring Karan Singh Grover, Zareen Khan and Sharman Joshi, had fared. While the movie got a better response in single screens, it gets a cold reception in the multiplexes, where Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety is faring well even in its third week.
Dil Juunglee has got only 8% occupancy, while 3 Storeys, despite getting better reviews than the its competitors, is a non-starter.
Can these movies perform well during the coming weekend? Save for Hate Story 4 that may see a rise in collections purely for its sensual content, it seems an impossible task for all the Friday releases this week.
