While quite a few films are already enjoying a good run at the India box office, today Sonakshi Sinha starrer Khandaani Shafakhana has arrived in cinema halls along with Hollywood biggie Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. Starring Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, and Idris Elba in the lead, the action flick directed by David Leitch is off to good start at the ticket windows in India whereas Sona's comedy-drama has failed to take an impressive opening. Well, that's not surprising to hear as trade pundits had predicted that Hobbs & Shaw would perform better than Khandaani Shafakhana on the first day. According to Boxofficeindia.com, Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham's latest offering witnessed around 30% occupancy during the morning shows. As for Sonakshi's film, it witnessed around 5 to 10 % occupancy in the morning which is very disappointing.
Talking about the Hollywood movie, the BOI report states, "The opening is pretty similar to the likes of Spiderman - Far From Home and The Lion King but considering this is an outright action film it could have opened better and The Lion King was a Saturday film. Still, the film will have a good opening day and then it remains to be seen where it can go after the first day." Coming to the Bollywood release, Khandaani Shafakhana is off to a disastrous start and even though it may witness some growth over the weekend, it will hardly make any difference to its box office fate in the long run.
