Two new films have arrived in theatres today - Laxman Utekar's rom-com Luka Chuppi and Abhishek Chaubey's dacoit drama Sonchiriya. While both the films had a good pre-release buzz, its Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon starrer Luka Chuppi which has got off to a decent start at the box office. According to trade portal Boxofficeindia.com, the film witnessed around 20% occupancy in the morning shows which we think isn't bad at all considering both Kartik and Kriti are still finding their footing in the industry. As for Sonchiriya, it seems the film will have a tough time to mint money at the ticket windows. Luka Chuppi Movie Review: A Wasted Pankaj Tripathi Provides Occasional Smiles in This Clumsy Kartik Aaryan-Kriti Sanon Romcom.

A report in Boxofficeindia.com states, "Sonchiriya is a very poor fare with very dull collections. It's just hard to even understand why such films are made and although it does not have stars it does have recognizable faces and it will be a waste of time for even these actors as forget numbers, just getting a little audience will be a struggle." Sonchiriya Movie Review: Sushant Singh Rajput, Bhumi Pednekar, Ranvir Shorey Are Marvellous in Abhishek Chaubey’s Stunning Dacoit Drama.

While Luka Chuppi has mostly received good reviews, Sonchiriya, on the other hand, has obviously impressed the critics big time. So there is a huge possibility of the film doing well over the weekend courtesy good word of mouth. Having said that, Luka Chuppi will indeed have a bigger opening than Sonchiriya for obvious reasons. However, it will be interesting to see whether Kartik manages to break the opening day record of his hit film Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety or not. The 2018 film had collected Rs 6.42 crore on day 1 and then ended up becoming a blockbuster
