Today, two new films have arrived in theatres - Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu starrer Badla and Hollywood superhero flick Captain Marvel starring Brie Larson in the lead. While both the films have opened to rave reviews, sadly only one of them has managed to open well at the box office. Trade pundits had predicted that Captain Marvel will have a better opening than Big B and Taapsee's crime thriller and that's exactly what has happened. As per BollywoodHungama, during the morning shows across India, Captain Marvel witnessed 45 % occupancy whereas Badla has gotten off to a slow start with just 15% occupancy. Badla Movie Review: Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu Talk Their Way Through This Highly Immersive Thriller With a Killer Twist!

Considering that Sujoy Ghosh's directorial venture has had a limited release and is a niche film, the opening isn't too shocking. However, Badla is very much likely to do well over the weekend as everyone on social media is all praises for the film. So the positive word of mouth should help the film gain momentum at the box office.

Talking about Captain Marvel's opening, trade portal Boxofficeindia.com  stated, "Captain Marvel had an excellent opening as it took the best opening of the year at around 45-50%. There have been two good openings this year with Total Dhamaal and Gully Boy (due to Valentines Day) but it is Hollywood which has shown the way again with a film which has actually got the crowd to come in on the first morning across the country." Captain Marvel Movie Review: Brie Larson's Superhero Outing is Impressive and the Future of MCU Seems to be in Good Hands.

In fact, according to Boxofficeindia.com, Brie Larson's film will perform really well over the weekend as well and could end up being the biggest opening weekend grosser in India after Avengers: Infinity Wars. Well, if that happens then nothing like it. After all, its the first female-led Marvel film and so far it has done much better than expected.
