Behzad Khambata's latest directorial venture Blank is surprisingly sustaining itself at the Indian box office. The film, starring debutant Karan Kapadia alongside Sunny Deol, released last Friday and got off to a poor start. The action thriller failed to impress the critics and garnered not-so-great reviews. And the scenario is pretty much the same with the audience. And hence the collections so far have been pretty low. Having said that, Blank is still drawing a certain section of the crowd to the cinema halls which is obviously good for the film and everyone involved in it. Blank Box Office Collection Day 3: Karan Kapadia and Sunny Deol's Action Thriller Has a Poor Opening Weekend, Mints Rs 3.72 Crore
On Monday, the film did witness a dip in its collection but still performed decently. Announcing the updated figures, film trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to the microblogging site Twitter and wrote, "#Blank doesn’t decline much on Mon [vis-à-vis Fri], but the Fri number itself was extremely low... Fri 97 lakhs, Sat 1.17 cr, Sun 1.58 cr, Mon 62 lakhs. Total: ₹ 4.34 cr. India biz."
Further, Boxofficeindia.com noted, "The occupancy remains low so it will be just a one week runner at most theatres. The other release of the week Setters will probably have a lifetime of under 1 crore." Yes, apart from Blank, Aftab Shivdasani and Shreyas Talpade starrer Setters also arrived in theatres on Friday, May 3. But the film did worse than Blank on the first day at the Indian box office. Blank Box Office Collection Day 2: Karan Kapadia and Sunny Deol's Film Shows Minimal Growth on Saturday, Mints Rs 2.17 Crore
The way both the new releases are performing, it won't be long before they end their theatrical run in India. In fact, it's very much unlikely that they will have another week in theatres after this Friday.
