What seemed to be a simple case of miscommunication took a political turn when BJP leaders of Purnia district in Bihar accused Congress and RJD of not showing Vicky Kaushal's Uri: The Surgical Strike in their region. The residents of this area have demanded a high-level probe after they suspect a deeply rooted controversy in this matter. There are 16 cinema theatres in total in the region and locals are currently agitated after distributors denied giving movie prints to them. A theatre owner in his conversation with Hindustan Times said "Cine lovers are continuously making calls to me for exhibiting the movie. But I am helpless as the distributors have not supplied me the prints." Also Neeraj Kumar Singh, president of North Eastern Kosi Motion Pictures Association, further blamed the Kolkata distributors for this bad condition in his area. “They haven’t given us any valid reason for not sending us the prints. We have reached out to them on more than one occasion but to no avail. We cannot read what thought is going into their minds. Since the Congress and RJD enjoy supremacy over the Seemanchal and Kosi region, BJP leaders think they might have influenced the distributors for not sending the movie prints for obvious reasons. When the daily contacted BJP leader Dilip Kumar Deepak to get his reaction on the same, he said, "This is highly unfortunate and we want the film immediately be played in theatres or else we’ll be compelled to resort to agitation. Tagging these allegations as baseless, senior RJD leader Kamal Kishore Yadav suggested that BJP is in fact in a position to solve this matter themselves. “Even we want to see the film. Instead of indulging in blame game, BJP leaders should take the trouble to speak to the distributors and find a solution. Their government is in power both at the Centre and in the state,” he said. Meanwhile, the college students demand an interference by Nitish Kumar's government. The film based on 2016 surgical strikes has already minted Rs 100 crore and has no plans of slowing down its pace at the box office.
