It’s now clear that the Bhool Bhulaiyaa movies aren’t exact continuations of each other. The first Bhool Bhulaiyaa, a remake of the Malayalam classic Manichitrathazhu, released in 2007, was a psychological drama disguised as a horror-comedy. The sequel, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, not only replaced Akshay Kumar, the lead hero of the first movie, with Kartik Aaryan but also shifted the narrative from psychological delusions to ghosts being real. The director has also changed from Priyadarshan to Anees Bazmee. Kartik Aaryan, Anees Bazmee and the ghostly theme continue their spree in the upcoming Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, scheduled for release in Diwali 2024, whose teaser was revealed on September 27. ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ Teaser: ‘Rooh Baba’ Kartik Aaryan Faces Off Against Vidya Balan’s Manjulika in This Spooky Flick; Don’t Miss Triptii Dimri’s Stunning Glimpse.

Kartik Aaryan returns as Rooh Baba, but this time, his romantic interest changes from Kiara Advani to Triptii Dimri. Vidya Balan is also returning to the franchise, and now her character is possessed by a real ghost, rather than suffering from split personality disorder.

Certain elements remain common across all the films—the hero’s costumes, the ghost named 'Manjulika' (or 'Monjolika', depending on pronunciation), Rajpal Yadav reprising his role in the same getup, and, of course, the franchise’s signature title track, which gets recreated in the sequels. Even the teaser for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 cleverly uses it.

But did you know that this title track is inspired by a K-pop song from the pre-BTS era?

The 'original' song was composed by Pritam, who, as you may know, isn’t exactly celebrated for originality. Some of his popular songs, like those from Race, Garam Masala, Woh Lamhe, and Dhoom, have been accused of being lifted from international artists. The iconic title track of Bhool Bhulaiyaa, especially its catchy instrumental section, is no exception, as it was lifted from a song called "My Lecon" by the boy band JTL, from their album Enter The Dragon‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ Teaser: Is That Madhuri Dixit as a ‘Ghost’?
