When Avengers: Infinity War came out, many of the Indian viewers had this question to ask - why can't we make a good superhero movie? It's not that we had never attempted to make one. The most prominent example being Hrithik Roshan's Krrish series (with the fourth movie to arrive in a year or so). There is, of course, Ra.One, starring Shah Rukh Khan, that came out a few years back. But are they really good? Entertaining yes, excellent, no. Now aiming to change those dynamics arrives director Vikramaditya Motwane and his superhero movie, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero. Harshvardhan Kapoor gets to don the superhero suit, a teaser of which we had seen a couple of weeks back. Now we get the full trailer.

Interestingly, the trailer of Bhavesh Joshi Superhero begins with a conversation about Ra.One that Bhavesh Joshi and his friends are having with each other. The trailer starts off with a fun tone when Joshi and his gang wear paper masks to expose the corruption in the city. However, the tone soon changes to a grim one when the villains catch up to the friends, forcing Kapoor to ditch the paper mask for sophisticated superhero mask, along with a modified bike to take on the villains, led by Nishikant Kamat's politician.

If you had missed out on the trailer, here it is.

While the trailer looks interesting and we can expect Motwane to deliver something different here, the trailer did remind us of some other movies that came before. Here are five such movies,

Shiva Ka Insaaf

Jackie Shroff goes all Zorro in this '80s flick that has him mete out vigilante justice to the villains in the movie. Call it a quirk of fate, but even his son Tiger Shroff wore an eye-mask for his superhero movie, A Flying Jatt. Also, ICYMI, the channel through which Joshi and his friends deliver their propaganda is also called 'Insaaf'!

Shahenshah

In another cult '80s movie, Amitabh Bachchan turns a vigilante out to destroy Amrish Puri and his minions. In the day, he is a seemingly corrupt cop in cahoots with the villains. But in the night, he sports leather jackets, a steely hand armour and fake white wig and beard to take on the same villains.

Ungli

The first part of the Bhavesh Joshi trailer reminded us of the Dharma movie where a group of masked friends give corrupt officials a taste of their own medicine. Interestingly, this is the only Karan Johar production to star Emraan Hashmi and Kangana Ranaut.

Anniyan

Bhavesh Joshi might not suffer from multiple personality disorder, but this Tamil blockbuster has similar shades. Here, the hero, played by a terrific Chiyaan Vikram, is a meek lawyer whose alter ego is a violent psychopath who uses scriptures from Hindi texts to mete out horrific punishments to all corrupt.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of Shadows

We had done a story earlier about how Bhavesh Joshi's superhero getup reminded us of Stephen Amell's superhero character, Casey Jones from this TMNT sequel. The lights on the mask might be missing, but there is a lot to draw parallels to here.
