Salman Khan is ready with his new blockbuster for Eid 2019 in Bharat. The larger-than-life drama is directed by Salman's favourite film-maker of recent times. Ali Abbas Zafar. Zafar and Salman have collaborated for two big blockbusters - Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai - in the past. Bharat has Katrina Kaif as the female lead, with Disha Patani also playing a love interest for Salman Khan's character. Bharat also stars Sunil Grover, Jackie Shroff, Tabu, Sonali Kulkarni and Shashank Arora in important roles. Will 2019 Cricket World Cup Affect the Box Office Business of Salman Khan's Bharat, Shahid Kapoor's Kabir Singh and Hrithik Roshan's Super 30?
Now, Bharat is an official remake of the acclaimed Korean film, Ode to My Father. Released in 2014, the movie was directed by Yoon Je-kyoon and starredHwang Jung-min and Yunjin Kim in the lead. Having got a taste of Korean Cinema and the quality of their premises, there are rumours that Salman Khan is also eyeing a couple more Korean movies to be remade, including the 2015 film Veteran.
The interesting part here is that Ode to my Father is not the first film that Salman Khan has remade and starred in Bollywood. That honour goes to this 2012 South Korean film called Masquerade. We put the trailer below for you so that you can hark a guess which Bollywood movie was inspired by it!
Got the answer? The 2016 blockbuster, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo! The Rajshri film, directed by Sooraj Barjatya, was said to be a remake of a yesteryear movie from their own banner, Raja Aur Runk. But going by Masquerade's premise, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo feels more similar to the Korean film than Raja Aur Runk, despite both the movies being about doppelgangers switching places. Not sure, if the makers of PRDP have taken the official remake rights of Masquerade.
Salman Khan is not the only actor with this fascination of Korean Cinema. Some other remakes in Bollywood are Ek Villain (I Saw The Devil), Rocky Handsome (The Man From Nowhere), Do Lafzon Ki Kahani (Always), Jazbaa (Seven Days), Te3n (Montage), Zinda (OldBoy) and so on.
