Bharat Box Office Collection Day 9: Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif's Action Drama Fares Well in its Extended Week 1
But Salman starrer is having a tough time minting money on weekdays.
Salman Khan's third collaboration with Ali Abbas Zafar, Bharat, has turned out to be successful at the box office so far. The film arrived in the cinema halls on June 5 and took a massive opening by raking in Rs 42.30 crore. It also became Khan's biggest opener to date by beating his previous best Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. After minting big money on day 1, Bharat went on to perform well over its extended five-day weekend. In fact, it reached the Rs 150 crore mark in the first five days itself which is obviously impressive. However, the period drama witnessed a slight dip in its collection on its first Monday and since then it has been earning money in the single digit range. According to BollywoodHungama.com, Salman and Katrina Kaif starrer slowed down further on day 9 as it collected around Rs 4.5 crore on Thursday. This means the total box office collection of Bharat now stands at Rs 179.1 crore. Though Bharat is struggling a bit at the ticket windows, it will continue to draw the audience to the theatres as there is no big release this week.
Having said that, Taapsee Pannu's thriller Game Over has opened to good reviews from the critics today. The film could pick up the pace at the box office due to good word of mouth over the weekend. If that happens, which is quite likely, then Bharat could take a hit at the BO. Plus, the big India versus Pakistan match on Sunday will probably affect its business as well. Co-produced by Khan himself, Bharat is a remake of South Korean blockbuster Ode to My Father and also stars Sunil Grover, Disha Patani, Jackie Shroff, Sonali Kulkarni, and Tabu.
