After taking a humungous opening on Wednesday, Ali Abbas Zafar's latest directorial venture Bharat fared brilliantly on Thursday too despite it being a normal working weekday. Starring Salman Khan, Sunil Grover and Katrina Kaif in the lead, the period drama opened to good reviews on the auspicious occasion of Eid and ended up raking in a whopping Rs 42.30 crore. With that, Bharat not only became the biggest opener of Salman's career but it also became the third highest opener of all time in Hindi cinema. And though the film has been in theatres for only two days, its already nearing the Rs 100 crore mark at the Indian box office. Just a while back, film trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to the microblogging site Twitter and revealed the updated figures. He wrote, "#Bharat puts up a big total on Day 2 [working day after #Eid holiday]... Plexes saw a normal decline, while single screens held fort... Saw excellent occupancy in evening/night shows... Overall, the 2-day total is superb... Wed 42.30 cr, Thu 31 cr. Total: ₹ 73.30 cr. India biz."
Further, a report in Boxofficeindia.com has noted, "The normal drop post-Eid is around 25% and this film has dropped a little higher than normal but it was also coming of higher opening numbers than previous Eids. The collections will be a mixed back over the next few days as some areas will drop as they coming of Eid and then city multiplexes may make ground over the weekend." Despite the ongoing Cricket World Cup, Salman starrer has witnessed two rock-solid days at the box office and that says a lot about Khan's superstardom. Going by the current trend, we are pretty sure that Bharat isn't going to slow down at the ticket windows anytime soon.
