The film stars Sunny Kaushal and Rukshar Dhillon in lead roles as they play Bhangra dancers who are chosen by their college to represent the institution in a competition. While competitors at first, Sunny's Jaggi and Rukshar's Simi eventually fall for each other and the film showcases their romantic journey whilst also focussing on the dance competition. The film also gives us a glimpse of Sunny's character in a different avatar suggesting a double role. Interestingly, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan starrer movie Karan Arjun, which had released in 1995, had a hit song titled "Bhangra paale" that served as an inspiration for the new film's title. The film also stars Shriya Pilgaonkar in a pivotal role. This is Sunny Kaushal's second film after he made an impressive debut with Akshay Kumar's Gold.

The film has been helmed by debutante Sneha Taurani. Speaking about the film, she said, "What I love about the script is the world it takes you into where music and dance define its characters and their goals. I am hoping to showcase Bhangra in its authentic form to give the audience an idea of its history as well as its modern-day adaptation through the inter-college competitions." Bhangra Paa Le has been produced by Ramesh Taurani, along with Ronnie Screwvala's banner RSVP Films. The film is all set to release on January 3.
