Akshay Kumar might be going through a tough phase in his professional life currently, with his recent releases not grabbing much attention. However, one cannot overlook that the Bollywood superstar has provided us with some of the best comedy films, the majority of which were helmed by Priyadarshan. We might soon witness the reunion of one of the most iconic trios of Hindi cinema: Akshay Kumar, Govinda, and Paresh Rawal with a new project. Yes, you heard that right! The actors are reportedly joining hands for a sequel to their hit 2006 comedy film Bhagam Bhag. Bhagam Bhag was produced by Suniel Shetty and also featured Shakti Kapoor, Arbaaz Khan, Jackie Shroff, Rajpal Yadav, Lara Dutta, and Tanushree Dutta in key roles. The movie was the biggest box office grosser of the year and gained a cult following due to its rib-tickling humour. Now, according to the latest reports, Sarita Ashwin Varde of Toaring River Productions has acquired the rights to the film and is planning a sequel.

A source close to the development told Pinkvilla, "Hera Pheri, Bhagam Bhag, and Garam Masala are among Akshay Kumar's most special films, and he has already sorted out the rights for them. Three comic legends in the same film will be a treat for the cinema-going audience, and the idea is to crack a script that does justice to the legacy of their work in past." The source further added that the scripting for the project has just started with a fresh set of writers.

If things go as planned, Akshay Kumar, Govinda, and Paresh Rawal's Bhagam Bhag 2 will go on floors in 2025 and aim for a theatrical release in 2026. A director will come on board for the sequel after the scripting is finished. FYI, Akshay Kumar is already busy with multiple films, including Welcome to the Jungle, Housefull 5, and Bhoot Bangla.
