Akshay Kumar's film Bell Bottom is in the controversy even before its journey has begun. The film was recently announced to be a story based on the real life incidents of one of India’s forgotten heroes. The Ranjit M Tewari flick might now face a legal case as a Kannada director of the film with the same name and theme has accused them of rehashing it unofficially. Speaking with ETimes, the maker of Kannada film Bell Bottom said, "We haven’t sent any legal notice to anyone yet but there should be no similarities between Kannada and Hindi Bell Bottom. After acquiring the rights of Bell Bottom, I gave the movie to several production houses in Mumbai. Nikkhil Advani (co-producer of Bell Bottom) is also one of them. I feel they have taken the concept and the style from Kannada Bell Bottom movie."
Earlier, the Khiladi Kumar had tweeted about the controversy saying that the screenplay of the film is original and it's not a remake. The makers of the south film did not react to it when the statement was put out on social media then. However, now that the south director is speaking in legal terms, it has to be seen whether Akshay and team decide to shell out a statement regarding the same. The flick written by Aseem Arora and Pervez Shaikhand is slated to hit the silver screens on January 22, 2021.
