‘Being Crass Is Not a Crime’: Swara Bhasker Questions Why CoA Wants Supreme Court’s Help to Punish Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul
Swara Bhasker says being crass is not a crime.
Swara Bhasker might have stirred a new controversy on Twitter. We will find out by tomorrow if her latest tweet qualifies to be a controversy or not. The actress has responded to the entire Hardik Pandya-KL Rahul episode that unfolded on an episode of Koffee with Karan 6. The young cricketers, especially Pandya, made some very sexist remarks during the episode. The episode received so much flak that Committee of Administrators had to get involved. They even had to turn to Supreme Court to decide a punishment for the two cricketers. To which, Swara has asked if our courts don't have anything better to do.
Swara shared a news report of CoA seeking SC's views on Twitter. She added a comment to her Tweet saying, "I’m a staunch feminist.. but reallllllyyyyyyyyyyy???????? Like realllyyyy???? Being crass is not a crime!!! (sic)"

Swara might have meant that it should be the BCCI or CoA who should have taken the call instead of involving top courts. 'Might' being the operative word here.
The top court said it will hear the matter next week after senior advocate P S Narasimha, the new amicus curiae are available to assist it in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) case. CoA chief Vinod Rai had reportedly recommended a two-match ban on Pandya and Rahul but Edulji had taken the matter to the BCCI legal cell, which refused to call the players' actions a violation of the code of conduct and recommended the appointment of an ombudsman.
Swara has been a pretty vocal feminist in India. In fact, she is one of the rare active actresses who does not mind speaking up on political issues. The actress was earlier speaking at a panel discussion where she talked about her own #MeToo story.
Swara revealed that she was sexually harassed by a director a few years ago. But back then she only thought the director was being stupid. She added that she realised she was sexually harassed after 6 years while hearing someone else's story which resembled hers.
Speaking of KL and Hardik, the men sort of crossed a line while talking to Karan Johar. Hardik revealed that he flaunts to his parents about the women he has had a 'scene' with. He also said that it is up to the 'talent of men' to score a woman and not up to the choice of women. The words and the entire attitude of the cricketers drew flak from four corners of the nation. Hardik even issued an apology on social media post the controversy. But the nation doesn't seem to be in the mood to forgive and forget.
