There has been a lot of buzz around the cinematic version of Indian epic, 'Mahabharata'. A-list stars like Aamir Khan, Mohanlal and more celebs are considered for this project. Also, it is touted to be one of the costliest projects till date. While all this is happening, filmmaker Kunal Kohli is soon to bring to the silver screen his version of another epic, Ramayana. The director recently told DNA that he will be making a film called 'The Ramayana'. Kunal earlier gave us rom-com hit like 'Hum Tum' and thriller-romantic movie like 'Fanaa'. However, this is the for the first time that we will see him working on a mega period drama.
Talking to the daily, Kohli said, "I’m producing and directing a movie on The Ramayana. I’m casting relatively new actors for it.” The film is reportedly all set to go on floors this year as it is tentatively slated to hit the screens in 2019.
Now when it comes to mythological stories, there are different versions to it. The story can be depicted according to one's imagination or by one of the versions written in the books. One can also give a contemporary twist to it. Remember Mani Ratnam directed 'Raavan'? So what will be Kunal's version?
The director answered that the film will be how the epic is. He has been working on it for quite long and that he is too excited to start with it. The official announcements too will be made just within a few weeks by the makers. Since it is the newbies that Kohli is planning to cast, we wonder how this turns out to be!
