Even though Batti Gul Meter Chalu is about Shahid Kapoor's battle against corruption in electricity board, he also has time to romance when he is not in court. Shraddha Kapoor is the female lead in this social drama, and it is a reunion for this pair after the critically acclaimed Haider. However, unlike their passionate, tragic romance in the Vishal Bharadwaj film, in Batti Gul Meter Chalu, Shahid and Shraddha have a more light-veined take on love, though not without its challenges.
Remember the late legendary Pakistani singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and his qawwali, Sochta Hoon Ke Woh Kitne Masoom? That popular song has been recreated for Batti Gul Meter Chalu by Rochak Kohli, as has been the trend these days. Rechristened as Dekhte Dekhte, the songs' lyrics have been changed by Manoj Muntashir and has been sung by Atif Aslam. While we are not usually fans of recreated songs, Dekhte Dekhte belongs to the better versions of this genre. Atif's voice helps in giving the songs a different feel for sure.
