Akshay Kumar has found himself in a new controversy. The actor is appearing before a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Punjab today in Chandigarh. Akshay Kumar is being questioned in connection with his alleged involvement in the 2015 police firing incidents that happened at Behbal Kalan and Kotkapura in the state following cases of sacrilege in Faridkot. SIT brought Akshay Kumar for questioning, as his name was mentioned in the Justice Ranjit Singh Commission report that looked into these incidents. Akshay Kumar Bargari Sacrilege Row: Actor to Be Questioned in Chandigarh at 10 AM.

As per the report, a meeting happened at Akshay's flat that involved Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and former deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal in 2015. The said meeting was brought into light to the report through a letter written by former MLA Harbans Jalal. The allegations against the actor are that he had brokered a peace deal between Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and Badal, that gave the pardon to Dera Sacha Sauda in the incidents, and whether Akshay helped Dera financially. Bargari Sacrilege Case: I Never Met Akshay Kumar Outside Punjab in My Life, Says Sukhbir Singh Badal.

As per a report in Times Now, the video of which you can watch below, Akshay is also being grilled on these aspects, including a tweet from Twinkle Khanna that mentions that Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh used to stay in Juhu in their building.

If you are not aware of the tweet that the report mentions, it's the below, which incidentally, Twinkle had tweeted in 2017, two years after that alleged meeting.

However, Akshay has denied in a recent tweet that he ever met Dera Sacha Sauda chief. He wrote, "It has come to my knowledge that some rumours and false statements are being loosely made on social media about my involvement with a person named Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in the context of a fictitious meeting involving Sukhbir Singh Badal. With all humility, I would like to state the following facts. He also added that even though MSG and he might have stayed in the same building, they never crossed paths. He revealed, "I learnt from social media at some point that Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh resided for a while at some place in my locality Juhu in Mumbai but we never crossed each other's paths.” Considering it was Twinkle who tweeted about Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, it is a bit surprising that Akshay had to learn about the presence of the self-professed god-man in his society through social media.  Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh is currently serving a jail term for 20 years for allegedly raping a former disciple.
