Biopics are the new Bollywood sensation. From the life of sportsperson to political personalities to artists, biopics are the most talked about thing in the showbiz world. 2018 saw the huge success of Sanju, which further motivated the filmmakers to use this blockbuster mantra. While we have heard about many biopics in the pipeline, the latest one to join the club is one on singing sensation Bappi Lahiri. Bappi Lahiri has confirmed that a film on his life will go on floors this year. He stated, “Yes, a lot of people are approaching me to make a film on my life but I haven't finalised anything. The biopic should start this year.”

The music icon further added that he wishes the Bollywood powerhouse, Ranveer Singh, to essay his character. “Actor Ranveer Singh could probably play my younger version...you know the 1970s, '80s and '90s time,” said Bappi. Gully Boy Box office Collection Day 19: Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt's Rap Drama Mints Rs 134.21 Crore.

Adding a cherry on the top, Ranveer has always shown his fan side for Bappi and the Simmba actor even gave a tribute to him on the 63rd Filmfare Awards last year.

Ranveer already has two biopics in his kitty, Gully Boy and ‘83. Gully Boy, which is based on the life story of rapper Divine and Naezy, is basking in huge success. The Padmaavat actor will be next seen in Kabir Khan's '83. Ranveer will be essaying the role of Kapil Dev in the film which traces the iconic World Cup win of the Indian Cricket Team back in 1983. The film is slated to release in 2020.
