John Abraham is attempting something highly experimental and rare with Attack. He is the co-producer of the film which is futuristic. This is a genre which has not been tried much in Indian cinema, so there's a huge novelty factor here. But we couldn't shake off the déjà_vu feeling while watching the teaser of the movie. It reminded us of so many other movies that we were a bit surprised.  But then imitation is the best form of flattery. Now from what we understood from the trailer of Attack, John Abraham seemed to have taken a hit to his physical form which makes him unable to move. Through artificial intelligence, he is fitted with a chip that not only helps him get back on his foot but become a lethal human weapon for good. Let us tell you about the movies it reminded us of. Universal Soldier

Jean Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren return from the dead as superhuman warriors in a covert military operation. We have a feeling John's movie will have references to this.

Upgrade

Grey becomes paralysed and loses his wife during an attack. A billionaire hands him a chip which enables him to not just regain his lost legs but exact revenge as well. You can watch the movie on Netflix.

Robocop

Who doesn't know Robocop? A terminally injured cop returns to force as a cyborg to rid the city of crime. John's character seems to be doing something similar if we go by the teaser.

Bloodshot

Vin Diesel's Bloodshot has a him as a soldier who dies in battle but is brought back to life and infused with superhuman abilities. John's movie may not exactly borrow from the story but it does have similarity in terms of non-human abilities.

What's interesting is that a Tamil language science fiction film in 1999 Sivan tried its hands at a similar theme. It is said to be heavily inspired from Robocop.
