Ayushmann Khurrana and Anubhav Sinha's first film together, Article 15, has finally surpassed the Rs 50 crore mark at the Indian box office. The crime, drama which released on June 28, has been pulling crowd to the cinema halls since day 1 courtesy rave reviews from the critics and good word of mouth. Though the movie released while India was still competing in the cricket world cup, Article 15 held up well at the ticket windows and minted money even on weekdays. Ayushmann starrer has been braving the Kabir Singh wave as well quite comfortably since day 1. So its not surprising that the film has now entered the Rs 50 crore club. Just a while back, film trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and announced the updated figures. He wrote, "#Article15 crosses ₹ 50 cr mark... [Week 2] Fri 2.65 cr, Sat 4 cr, Sun 5.35 cr, Mon 2.02 cr, Tue 1.25 cr, Wed 1.35 cr [better than Tue]. Total: ₹ 50.83 cr. India biz."
Also, Boxofficeindia.com has noted, "Article 15 managed the best growth of all the films playing as it went up 15%. The two day match has probably taken out 1 crore nett from the film. The film should have a second week of 18 crore nett which is a good number." Inspired from true events and depicting India's socio-political situation, Anubhav Sinha's directorial venture is based on Article 15 of the Indian Constitution which prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, cast, religion, sex and place of birth.
