In an interesting twist to the case involving actor Armaan Kohli assaulting girlfriend Neeru Randhawa, the Bombay High Court who was hearing the case, has quashed the FIR filed against the actor. As per a report in Indian Express, this was done after Armaan Kohli filed an affidavit in the court from custody which mentions that he feels 'remorse and regret' over the whole incident and has expressed forgiveness. He also insisted in his affidavit that he would not be repeating the actions in the future.
More intriguing is the revelation that the victim, Neeru Randhawa, has herself filed a statement that she wants the FIR to be quashed and that she doesn't want to pursue the case any further. As per the report in IE, Randhawa's legal team and Armaan's have settled for an amicable settlement out of court, thanks to their common friends and acquaintances' intervention. It is also speculated that she has got some monetary compensation for the trauma she has to go through. She later told the court, "If the conditions of the settlement are met then I will be happy to take back the case."
After the FIR was quashed, the court asked Arthur jail authorities to release the actor. As their statement, the ruling bench said, "We hope and trust the petitioner (Kohli) will abide by what is stated in the affidavit in its true spirit." The court also told the actor to make the required deposit of Rs 1 lakh each to Memorial Centre’s children treatment centre and The National Association of the Blind.
