A video posted by Virat Kohli on social media is creating quite the buzz these days. The video had the ace cricketer and Indian team captain filming his wife, actress Anushka Sharma, giving an earful to the occupant of another car for littering plastic on the road. The video, that went viral within seconds, drew diverse kind of reactions. Many hailed the actions of Anushka, with celebs like Karan Johar and even the Minister of Law Ravi Shankar Prasad hailing her. Then there are others, who felt she was actually bullying the other person and called her out for her social vigilantism. And then there are others made the moment immortal with their memes.
While the memes helped in furthering the cause for which the video existed in the first place, Virat Kohli took complete objection to it. In a reactionary tweet, he wrote, "Lot of people who don't have the courage to do something like this find it funny. Everything for people nowadays is meme content. Shame." Well, while we can understand Virat's annoyance, Twitterati was not exactly okay with the context in which he used the word 'courage' as a label for Anushka's video.
In quite a lot of tweets, many Twitter users told Virat that it isn't courageous to post a video of an ordinary man, even if he is doing something silly, and post it on social media. They are of the view that to call it courageous, Virat should have called out on the behaviour of the people above him. Check out the tweets below -
Lecture not courage
Courage? Bhai, India mein road pe rozana log ek dusro ko lecture dete hai. Use the word 'courage' when you can use your celebrity status to call out the farce of certain hashtag campaigns which are passed around as grand initiatives. https://t.co/ylvyZTOV9X

This is not courage @imVkohli, I have seen hundreds giving these 'lectures' on Indian roads every day- Courage is what Hollywood stars and NFL players are doing...standing up against bigotry and authoritarianism. But, you guys show courage crawling in front of the emperor. https://t.co/upixjo9Iff

Call out on politicians instead of common people
a lot of people also don't have to the courage to put their considerable influence to use and take a stand against the communal and divisive politics of the government instead they participate in stupid fitness challenges with fascists and then lecture others on ethics. shame. https://t.co/25SuMA90WX

Those who live in glass houses...
Hahahahahaha ... @imVkohli first stop giving maa-behen gaali. Tell @AnushkaSharma to teach you to respect women and to stop that sewage from your mouth
Stop driving fuel guzzlers if you are so worried about pollution#Bollytards https://t.co/jes9d2gloQ

Too unfair?
It needs *courage* to call out some moron throwing plastic bags/garbage on the road from a car?
What would you then call what those like us who fight the might of the state and the thuggish political dispensation in power, in front of whom you crawl on your hands & knees? https://t.co/1vIadmmugU

Lucky?
You got lucky actually that he didn't say anything (or you ran away before he reacts) otherwise there r many ppl who won't care about ur celebrity status before kicking your arrogant ass for rude behaviour & for posting their videos..Just a gentle advice galiyo ke badshah. https://t.co/OZPuDhn2uj

We are sure Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma would never have expected these kinds of reactions, when they posted that video in social media!
