Anupam Kher Wishes Former PM Manmohan Singh on His Birthday With Another Glimpse From the Upcoming Biopic, The Accidental Prime Minister

When the first look of the biopic on Manmohan Singh, titled The Accidental Prime Minister, released, fans were easily confused if it was the former PM himself in the picture. But it was actor Anupam Kher, playing the role, bearing an uncanny similarity to Singh. Well, on Manmohan Singh's 86th birthday, today, Anupam has shared yet another glimpse of the upcoming film, and one can still get confused about the identity of the person in the frame. Manmohan Singh Birthday: Narendra Modi Wishes the Former PM Long Life as he Turns 86.

The Accidental Prime Minister is based on the book of the same name, written by Sanjay Baru, who served as the media advisor of Manmohan Singh from 2004 to 2008. Talking about the film and extending a wish, Anupam, by sharing a video on his Twitter handle, said, "Respected #DrManmohanSingh!! Here is wishing you a very happy and healthy birthday. May be I will get an opportunity to have a cup of tea & a piece of cake with you if you ever watch our film. I promise, you will like my portrayal. It is full of sincerity & honesty. Regards"

Earlier in an interview, Anupam had talked about his preparation for the role. “I am approaching this part of Dr. Manmohan Singh completely from an actor’s point of view. There is a book and screenplay for reference. I have worked on it for six months. It is the most difficult film as he is the most visible person and so it is not easy to portray him. Also, the world knows him. His language, his movement… so it is more difficult. I need to internalise the character and be that person,” Anupam told PTI.
