Dharma Productions rolled out another movie with star kids in it and it is called Student of the Year 2. The Punit Malhotra directed film stars Ananya Panday, Tiger Shroff and Tara Sutaria as the students. Now, the sequel of Alia-Varun-Sidharth starrer SOTY is on the verge of a breakdown with the amount of trolling it is facing. The hype was also high because of the unsaid competition between KJo's girls, Janhvi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan and Ananya. But then the first day collections are here and the result is amusing. After a lot of hurdles and uncertainty, Sara Ali Khan debuted through Abhishek Kapoor's Kedarnath, opposite Sushant Singh Rajput. Her performance was liked by the audience. The film collected Rs 5 crore on day 1. Speaking of Janhvi Kapoor's debut film Dhadak, the flick raked in Rs 8.71 crore in the country. So, did Ananya win this box office race, at least on day 1? Definitely!
Surprisingly, despite poor reviews for the trailer, the movie and the performances, the movie has successfully garnered Rs 12.06 crore at the ticket windows. Of course, this was when the audience took a leap of faith and watched the flick in the theatre on the basis of the trailer. Now, that the critics and fans' reactions and reviews are out, we wonder if the film will hit the bull's eye. But for now, in the race of first-day box office collections between Sara, Janhvi and Ananya, the newbie has won!
