Shah Rukh Khan had begun his journey as a producer in 2000 with the movie, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani. His first production banner was Dreamz Unlimited, in which he had partnered with Juhi Chawla and director Aziz Mirza. SRK's innings as a producer got off to a rocky start as Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani got crushed at the box office by Hrithik Roshan's Kaho Na...Pyaar Hai. His next production, the ambitious Asoka, also flopped. It was with the third production Chalte Chalte that Shah Rukh Khan first tasted success at the box office. By the time, Main Hoon Na came into theatres in 2004, Shah Rukh Khan took over Dreamz Unlimited completely and revamped it as Red Chillies Entertainment. Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu’s Twitter Chat Reveals When to Expect the First Trailer of Badla; Share First Posters.

The production house had seen its fair share of successes like Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express and Happy New Year, as well as disappointments like Jab Harry Met Sejal and the recent Zero. Like with any star-owned production house, most of the films made under Red Chillies had Shah Rukh Khan in the lead. However, there had been movies where SRK preferred to be involved only in the producer capacity, or at the most, appear in a cameo. Most of these films had been made with other banners, like Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. Say What! Shah Rukh Khan Reveals He Hasn’t Watched His Debut Film Yet and the Reason Will Surprise You!

Here are five such movies where Shah Rukh Khan was happy producing them, rather than take on the lead role.

Kaal

Kaal marked the first production that didn't involve Shah Rukh Khan in the lead, though he appeared in the title song along with Malaika Arora. Partnering with Karan Johar, SRK presents this supernatural thriller that had Ajay Devgn, John Abraham, Vivek Oberoi, Lara Dutta and Esha Deol in the lead. Kaal was average at the box office.

Always Kabhi Kabhi

This teenage romantic drama, that marked the debut of Ali Fazal in a leading role, was SRK's first solo production that didn't have him in the lead role. King Khan appeared in the song "Antenna", while staying away from the film's main premise. The movie was a disaster at the box office.

Student of the Year

Red Chillies and Dharma Production came together to produce this Karan Johar directorial. SOTY has a special place in the hearts of Bollywood fans for giving us Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra. While Kajol came up for a cameo, Shah Rukh Khan never popped up even once in the movie. SOTY was Red Chillies' biggest hit that didn't have SRK in the lead.

Ittefaq

This remake of the classic Rajesh Khanna whodunit, directed by the late Yash Chopra, was produced by SRK, Karan Johar and BR Chopra Films. Sidharth Malhotra, Sonakshi Sinha and Akshaye Khanna played the lead in the film, that was an average grosser at the box office.

Badla

Shah Rukh Khan joins hand with Azure Entertainment for Badla, a mystery thriller that is a remake of a Spanish film, The Invisible Guest. Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu played the lead in the movie, that is directed by Kahaani fame Sujoy Ghosh. There are speculations that SRK may have a cameo in the movie. Badla is set to release on March 8.
