It's a proud moment for the Bachchan Family and all of us Indians, for Bollywood's legend Amitabh Bachchan was conferred with the Dada Saheb Phalke Award 2019 for his contribution to the Indian film industry over five decades, at the 66th National Film Awards this year. However, because the actor had to skip the ceremony owing to ill health, the actor received his award on December 29, 2019 at Delhi's Rashtrapati Bhavan where the President Ram Nath Kovind, who hosted a high-tea for all the winners, presented Amitabh with the honour, in presence of his family members. The award is India's highest film honour and the last Dada Saheb Phalke Award was conferred to the late Vinod Khanna posthumously in 2017. Seen at the ceremony seated up front were Jaya Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan. The 76-year-old actor debuted in Hollywood with Saat Hindustani and has innumerable films to his credit. Some of his best works are considered to be Anand, Zanjeer, Deewaar, Don, Sholay, Black, Paa among others. Amitabh has also been the recipient of four National Film Awards for Agneepath, Black, Paa and Piku, followed by a Padma Shri in 1984, a Padma Bhushan in 2001 and a Padma Vibhushan in 2015.
