After delivering powerful performances in the 2016 film PINK, Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu are working together again for Badla. Of course, going by the title, we can expect the genre of the movie. What's interesting is that the movie is directed by Sujoy Ghosh, who is known for making one of the best thrillers in Bollywood cinema, Vidya Balan's Kahaani, as well as its underrated sequel. Sujoy had earlier directed Amitabh Bachchan in Aladdin. Bachchan had also sung a song (Ekla Cholo Re) in Kahaani.

The movie has found its release date, as trade analyst Taran Adarsh revealed that Badla is releasing on March 8, 2019. Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment is producing the movie, along with Azure Entertainment.  Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee had recently wrapped the shoot of the movie in Scotland.

Badla is said to be an official remake of the Spanish thriller, Contratiempo aka The Invisible Guest. Speaking of her character in the movie to Mumbai Mirror earlier, Taapsee had this to say, "It will be unfair to both Sujoy and me if the film didn’t have such a character. I’ve been shooting films back-to-back over the last couple of months but most of them have been desi girls. Now suddenly, I’m in Scotland playing a sharp, powerful businesswoman based here, it’s a drastic jump. This woman is also not your conventional Sujoy heroine, as you will realise. It’s a character I’ve been waiting for."
