The 25-year-old actress said, "It is very disgraceful, shameful as a girl, as a human being, as a part of this country. I feel bad."
Alia Bhatt will be next seen in Raazi opposite Vicky Kaushal. Helmed by Meghna Gulzar, the story revolves around a Kashmiri Spy who is married to a Pakistani army officer. She serves the nation by passing the necessary information to the Indian army.

Earlier, Meghna Gulzar told a leading tabloid, "Even before Bhavani Iyer (who wrote the screenplay with Meghna) and I had put a word on paper, I knew that a performance was needed to take Sehmat’s journey forward on screen. Also, the way I see her, she doesn’t suddenly turn into this indestructible superhero on a mission. There’s a vulnerability inherent in her character which she retains till the end and I’ve noticed that no matter how hard-hitting the characters she plays, there is a certain softness to Alia, physically and emotionally, that I was looking for."
